Air to Air from a San Diego Blogger

Farmers Airship Contest Winner!!

I am a local amateur photo blogger, and I am currently working on a project I call the "Aerial San Diego Project." The pilot that I fly with told me about the Zeppelin NT coming to San Diego, so right away we knew we had to get up there and see if we could find it! The location at Torrey Pines made for a great backdrop, and we were able to record lots of great shots as we circled overhead.

Thanks for visiting us in San Diego!

She hovered for a few minutes admiring the Hotel del Coronado

Just went out to the beach tonight to get some pictures of the sunset.Imagine my suprise when the zeppelin came into view.  She flew down the beach and then hovered for a few minutes admiring the Hotel del Coronado.

Welcome Farmers NT to San Diego!

About 9pm on Jan 29 evening, 2010 I was watching TV in my living room. And AS I looked down on my glass coffee table I saw what looked like a reflection of an airplane coming straight toward my house. Well thats what I thought. I said Oh my God because there was no noise. I thought it was a plane crashing with engines failed as I am in Mission Bay, San Diego where the planes turn to  route around Lindberg field. I ran outside and found that it was a Zepplelin heading South toward downtown. It was very close and looked alot like a Zepplelin NT I flew in Germany May 2008. So I watched it and again heard no noise and only saw the running lights. I was filled with happiness, one it was not a plane crashing, two it was probably the NT from San Francisco visiting San Diego. Three I was imagining how beautiful a flight over San Diego at night or daytime would be.

KCOY Said to Do It!

Farmers Airship Contest Winner!!

Our local news station KCOY said to get a picture of the Zeppelin over the Central coast for a chance to win a ride. We we watched the skies all day finally saw it over Pismo Beach around 4-5pm today. All we had was our phone camera but here it is.

It was neat to see. Hope to go for a ride.

Flying over Pismo Beach

Farmers Airship Contest Winner!

These photos were taken over rural Arroyo Grande, Ca.

Took photos as blimp was heading south. My wife and I tracked the blimp from up North down the coast to Pismo Beach area. Glad we got a look at it as we are both retired and seniors. It is great to see it from a distance... So thanks for the thrill of seeing it fly over...

Seen from Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook

Below is a photo I took of an airship (I think it's one of yours) returning south at sunset after doing a circuit of Los Angeles. This photo was taken from the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook, a fine spot for airship watching.

The airship flys over me almost everyday when I am at work.  I will start taking pictures of the airship to share.  The airship was flying over San Pedro by the coast.  This would be a great present for my 6 year old son for his birthday.

Over the Belmont Heights section of Long Beach

Just saw it 15 minutes ago over the Belmont Heights section of Long Beach. I live in the 200 block of Mira Mar Avenue. About 2 months ago your airship passed directly over our block of Mira Mar Avenue but I didn't have my camera at hand. I estimate that your were over Loma or Euclid when I took this shot.

She started hopping up and down!

I saw your airship approaching out of the sunset toward the Annenberg Community Beach House on January 6, 2010. I was walking along the beach walk and there was a family with three small children playing in the playground area. The father pointed out the airship and the two older boys saw it right away and shouted BLIMP! The third child, a little girl about two years old, took a little longer to spot you. But if I would have had my camera with me, that would have been the best shot of the day. Her face totally lit up and she started hopping up and down. She didn't take her eyes off of the airship until it was completely out of sight.

It was a nice moment and you couldn't have picked a more beautiful, picturesque day to fly over. I have learned my lesson. I will never leave my camera in the office again and now I know what to ask for on my upcoming birthday. I have always wanted to fly in a zeppelin and didn't know that it was even a possibility. I am excited to find out that it was.
