Hello Neighbor!

Hello Neighbor! Just one week after he got to help unveil the name of the Zeppelin, Owen got to see it fly right over his apartment building. A little while later while eating breakfast, Owen's parents were surprised to hear him shout "BIG!", and looked up to see the Eureka fly past their window. I think Owen is going to enjoy the weekends when you fly out of Oakland Airport.

Flying a kite at Crissy Field

My 4 year old was flying a kite at Crissy Field on 11/16 and saw the Airship approaching. He was awed and a bit worried the Airship would tangle up in the kite string. He spent a lot of time pointing at it and being generally excited. You need to offer a special "kids rate" for tours.

Mt. Diablo as a backdrop

Looking out our rear yard in Belmont to the east, we have a great view of Ventures as it passes up and down the Peninsula with Mt. Diablo as a backdrop.

The other photo was taken out of my sunroof as it flew directly overhead.

I can't wait to ride this thing!

Hopefully he will remember the experience of unveiling the name of the ship for years to come

Owen had a wonderful time today as he joined the festivities at Moffett Field. Hopefully he will remember the experience of unveiling the name of the ship for years to come. We would like to thank everyone at Airship Ventures for such wonderful hospitality, and for the opportunity to participate in the event.

Fascinated by your graceful figure

Finally! Zeppelin was right above our place. I was waiting for this moment. Yay! Fascinated by your graceful figure and quick u-turn, I hurt my neck. Have a happy flight, Zeppelin!

Thanks for bringing back The Fat Guy In The Sky

I have seen it twice and LOVE IT!! The first time we saw it downtown and it quickly flew behind buildings. My friends thought I was crazy!
The second time my son saw it and got very excited. We took a photo of it. Proof.
Thanks for bringing back The Fat Guy In The Sky.
Amazing and fun! Can't wait to take a ride!

I just saw the ship fly overhead on the Stanford campus

Minutes ago (11/20/08 1:30 pm) I just saw the ship fly overhead on the Stanford campus. It appeared to have circled around Hoover Tower and then head off southbound.

It is not a very noisy aircraft. I think it looks really fascinating. I was trying to make out if I could see anybody in the driver's seat!

I was relaxing in my Nob Hill apartment

I was relaxing in my Nob Hill apartment, enjoying the clear skies and warm weather from my bay windows. Suddenly, I noticed an odd shape drifting across the sky. Then I remembered reading about the Airship Ventures Zeppelin. That's it! And I did not have to leave home to see it!

With grace and elegance, the Zeppelin settled onto the ground

With grace and elegance, the Zeppelin settled onto the ground of the Oakland Airport like a fall leaf. The ground crew went to work with the precision of an Indy Car pit crew and moved the "stairway to heaven" into place so that the passengers could disembark (Sorry, I couldn't pass up a good Lead Zeppelin reference). Then before you could think of the correct pronunciation of "luftschiff hoch" the ship was back in the air with another load of passengers for a tour of skies above Oakland and the East Bay.

A few suprisingly small, tight turns above Pixar

I was walking outside after about 2pm in Emeryville and saw the airship flying over. It seemed to be 200 - 300 ft overhead. It was kind of rolling side to side which seemed unusual. It made a few suprisingly small, tight turns above Pixar. It was quite captivating to watch as many people were watching and pointing up. I took a picture with my phone so it's not that great.

I could see the unmistakable outline of an airship over the San Mateo Bridge

As I was about to head home from work today, I decided to take a quick look at the tracking page to see if the Zeppelin was flying today. I saw that it had apparently just taken off, and instead of heading up the peninsula like she usually does, she was heading towards the east bay. As I walked to my car from where I work in Hayward, I could see the unmistakable outline of an airship over the San Mateo Bridge. As I drove up 880 towards where I live in Oakland it seemed as though I had a Zeppelin as an escort. On a hunch that it might be setting down at the Oakland Airport, I exited at 98th where I took this photo. It soon became obvious that my hunch was incorrect, and I opted to take back roads the rest of the way home. I watched as the ship headed off into the distance towards Emeryville, wondering what it would be like to be watching the traffic from 1500 feet in the air.

We took off down a side street, doing our best to keep the airship in sight

As I pulled into our driveway with my two children, my youngest, who was just on the edge of falling asleep, started crying. I immediately pulled back out and told my older child, "We need to drive around for just a couple of minutes to let your brother conk out." I started down our street, aimless, as my son asked, "Where are we going?"

Just then I caught sight of the blimp directly in front of us. "Wow!" I yelled, "Look at that! Let's follow it!"

We took off down a side street, doing our best to keep the airship in sight. We'd lose it behind trees, and then find it again with a gleeful holler. We tracked it all the way to Belmont from Redwood City before it got too far ahead of us, and I decided that we had definitely driven enough to put the little one asleep.

Thanks for the diversion!

PS: I promise I did stop for all stop signs and kept my eye on the road....I did have my two children in the car, after all!! :)

Near Sierra Point Parkway

I saw the airship pass over my building near Sierra Point Parkway on 11/11/08 around 1:00PM. Looked like the ship was out of Moffet field on a two hour flight. Can't wait to take a trip one day. Next time I will take a photo.

Hovering over Stanford

I saw it yesterday the first time and then I saw it today (Nov.12th) again at approximately 3pm hovering above the Stanford University campus. To say that I was thrilled to see such a huge "balloon" flying above my head, would be an understatement. It's so big but the mere sight of it made me wonder how romantic it would be to actually fly on one such balloon :-)

What I initially took to a dream...

Yesterday afternoon, I woke up from a short nap to see, perfectly framed in our French doors, what I initially took to a dream. Framed against the very blue sky and wispy clouds was a sleek, white airship like something out of a Miyazaki film. When it failed to blip out of existence, I ran to the other end of the house, shouting for whoever else was inside. "You have to see this!" I grabbed my camera and spent the next few minutes photographing this beautiful apparition as it circled our house

... after a photo session with a local model (downtown Oakland)

I was in downtown Oakland this early afternoon after a photo session with a local model. I ended up in downtown Oakland and was intrigued by the buildings, so while snapping those, I look up and lo & behold: the airship again!!! So, I have more pixs of your fabulous airship again as seen in the Oakland skies! I was later in Treasure Island but didn't see the airship again - what a pity!! The clouds were fantastic today!!!! Take care!!

Takes you back to a different era that I have only read about (Menlo Park)

It was Monday Nov. 10 on the way back from lunch in Menlo Park, walking towards Middlefield on Ravenswood Ave. I looked up and saw it floating by. And then I remembered that there is an airship at Moffett Field, but I had no idea it would have regular flights around the Bay Area until I looked it up online. It was quite lovely to see. Takes you back to a different era that I have only read about.

I know what to ask for for Christmas (Stanford Sighting)

Sighted over Stanford. How cool is this? I was surprised by how maneuverable it is. I've been reading about Zepplins since I was a little kid, and thought I'd never live to see one fly, let alone from my dorm window at Stanford. I know what to ask for for Christmas. Nice to see that we are getting aerial tourists in addition to the Japanese who arrive by bus in droves and film us while we are in class. Seen here with the famous-ish Hoover Tower.
